Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Party (basic cleanse smoothy/ ginger-cabbage sea veg salad)

Yesterday Chop woke up whining about an egg sandwich. I would love an egg sandwich too, but not this week...not while we're cleansing. Eggs are off the list, as are cheese and wheat. So no, no egg sandwiches. Instead we started with our cranwater and psyllium husk (definitely a good idea to shake not stir), hot lemon water, hemp protein packed smoothie and some quinoa with cinnamon and apples. The quinoa left a little to be desired but the smoothie was delicious, and by 9:00 Chop was bouncing off the walls and talking about how great he felt.

Basic Smoothie Recipe
8 oz cranwater
1 sliced peach
1 T ground flax seed
2 T Hemp powder
1 cup frozen berries
1/4 t stevia

Lunch was a big arugula salad with tomatoes, carrots, red bell pepper, avocado, olives, ground flax, lime juice and flax oil. That was delicious as well, but it was a rainy day and I think it took us both, all we could do, to keep from grazing. I had fruit snacks, apples, oranges, and peaches throughout the day to keep satisfied.

We had friends over for dinner and that was really nice and delicious. Because enjoying food has so much to do with sharing company, while cleansing it is really nice to be able to have dinner with friends. They are both also cleansing and it was nice for them to not have to think about what to make for dinner.

This is my chef friend Aaron that I mentioned in a previous post, and Becky our good friend and roommate in the summer. My goofy huhuhuhuh in the background and Chop about to call himself a dirty dirty word.

Dinner was a ginger cabbage salad with sea vegetables, mahi mahi, and mashed sweet potatoes.
I had a minor set back (small cheat) with the dressing. I used Braggs Liquid amino acids, instead of soy sauce to avoid the wheat/gluten factor and then realized that Braggs is still soy (not cleanse friendly) but it was a very small amount (1/3 cup throughout entire dressing) and added so much flavor I coudn't go without it. Anyone reading this who is on the cleanse, they sell Braggs at the Depot, you too can cheat, if you'd like, with a little Braggs Soy.I didn't get a picture of the salad, which is a bummer, because I think it would have really sold you on it. There are some remainders in the bowl (don't those two look satisfied?)

Salad:
1/2 head cabbage chopped
1 red bell pepper chopped
1 apple chopped
1 handful of baby spinach
2 shredded carrots
Dressing:
1/2 cup of flax oil (if not cleansing you can make it with olive oil..cheaper)
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup of fresh ginger (cut into pieces, blender friendly)
1/2 cup of sesame seeds (not cleansing you can use 1/2 cup tahini-creamier)
1/4 cup of braggs (not cleansing soy sauce is fine)

Blend, add water till desired texture

It seemed unfair to have a little dinner party and no dessert (talk about cutting a party short). I threw about 4 apples, a bag of frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup of frozen pineapple, and a peach into a pot with some unsweetened cranberry juice, cinnamon, and ground ginger. Cooked that down for about 15 minutes and served it warm with a sprinkle of stevia and toasted sesame seeds. It hit the spot, after 4 days of no sugar, this was sweet, tangy, and delicious!
